About "LOVE"

This short poem depicts the heart and soul of “Love 2000 AD”.

I wrote this poem, now entitled “Love”, at the International Society of Poets Conference, held in Washington, DC, in 1995. As it was given to me, I penned it on the scroll for the “World's Largest Poem For Peace.”

Let me tell you more about this unique scroll.

Poets from all over the world attended the international poetry conference. We were all invited to submit a new piece of poetry for this project, or to write a new poem on the scroll, that had been set up in one of the rooms. It was actually a huge roll of paper, unrolled at one end and re-rolled on the other end of several tables, that had been set together lengthwise.

Not having any of my poetry with me at that moment and not wanting to let the opportunity slip by, I quickly penned this poem.

I entitled this poem “Love,” at a later date.

Love

LOVE

Love,
I'll put my hand in yours
And if you don't let go,
We'll be together,
Forever.

About "A Woman Waiting"

Sometimes, we stand at windows and just look out. Now and then, we have to turn some unexpected corners in our lives. At other times, we need to climb fences or jump over other kinds of hurdles.

We don't always comprehend or appreciate the direction that our lives take. Sometimes, in retrospect, life begins to make sense once again, but not always. Finding love can be a challenge, but love is there, if we can just perceive it.

"Love has a complexity, multiplicity and diversity of expression."

Seeing the many faces of love and realizing the reality of love, in every aspect of our lives, can be a truly amazing experience. Perhaps in some way, love is what we are all waiting for.

The banner depicting "A Woman Waiting", is a recent photograph of a needlepoint, that I spent time working on and then framed, in the 1970's. It portrays a woman standing at a window. Who is the original artist?

I don't know, but I do know that there is a love poem that can be written for every picture.

About Love 2000 AD

My love poetry project needed to have a title and what more appropriate title was there for the turn of the century, than the title, LOVE 2000 AD? I applied the copyright and obtained it.

I could type a bit, but not very well. I barely knew anything about computers, at that time. But I knew that I could write love poetry, so I continued to do just that. Since I was in an environment, where artwork was being reproduced with a scanner, computer and printer, I learned how to use all three.

It was slow going for me at first, because I am a visual learner. In other words, I have to see something visually, in order to understand it. Writing things down takes time, but that is how I learn.

I began to write love poetry, focusing on the the various pieces of artwork and photography, that were brought in for reproduction.

Then, I started going out to take photographs of local, historical sites. Writing poetry for them, involved researching the history behind each one of them. Gradually, I compiled my LOVE 2000 AD collection of poetry, written in conjunction with artwork and photography.

Writing custom poetry proved to be a bit of a challenge, but it was fun!

Every poem had a basic theme. Love.

The Power of Love

In 1997, I received my Master of Arts degree in Philosophy, from Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario (Canada). In my entire lifetime, I had never planned to do that and it was actually the last thing that I thought I would ever do.

During the time I spent studying at Brock, I began to realize the tremendous power inherent in the universal concept of love. I listened as one professor after another from around the world, presented different concepts of love at the annual Love Conferences, held at Brock every Valentine's Day weekend. These well-researched papers were compiled and published in book format, after every conference. Gradually, they were being used as textbooks, at various universities around the world.

I began to realize that globally, these books had tremendous merit, including the power to bring change to the world.

Suddenly, my world was turned upside-down, just several months before I was scheduled to graduate. I was forced to move and had to complete my degree, from a distance. I did it!

Love poetry was my passion.

I began to realize that with the turn of the century, focusing on love poetry, might have merit too. Thus, my LOVE 2000 AD project was born.

About the Name

I registered the company called Amazon Art Reproductions as a single proprietorship, in the year 1998, in Thunder Bay, Ontario (Canada), for the purpose of publishing love poetry, in conjunction with artwork and photography.

"You are an Amazon!"

I was amazed by the words spoken to me by this middle-aged gentleman, but they gave me an idea. I had been showing him an old photo, one that had just been reproduced, enlarged and framed.

When he stood up, I suddenly realized that compared to him, yes, I was an Amazon. I was almost a foot taller than he was. I chuckled and promptly adopted the name Amazon, for my about-to-be registered company.

Was the name available for registraton? Yes it was.

And no, I was not seven feet tall, like the women of the Amazon.
